Alexander Koryakin

The winner of the 61st Jaén Piano Competition «Premio Jaén» and prizewinner of the 10th International Bach Competition in Würzburg Alexander Koryakin has been playing piano since he was nine years old and wanted to make it his career right from the start.

Thus, next year, at the age of ten he gave his first recital consisting of several solo pieces from Bach to Chopin, at eleven he won his first competition. Shortly afterwards he was admitted to the High school of music of the Republic of Sakha in Yakutsk, where he studied for six years with Prof. Yunona Upkholova, followed by studies at the distinguished Russian Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow with Prof. Dr. Vera Nossina until 2012. During that time Alexander became a prizewinner of the «Vladimir Horowitz» competition in Ukraine, the «Semyon Benditsky» competition in Russia, the «Les nuits pianistiques» competition in Aix-en-Provence and a Finalist of «Emil Gilels» competition in Odessa, Ukraine.

In 2014 he moved to Germany to continue his studies with internationally renowned Prof. Dr. Lev Natochenny. He also received other artistic inspirations from András Schiff, Sontraud Speidel and Ferenc Rados.

Over the course of his career, Alexander Koryakin has given more than 500 recitals throughout Russia and Europe, including appearances at the «Piano Loop» Festival in Croatia and «Gegen den Strom» Festival in Germany. Some of the venues Alexander has performed at include the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the UNESCO Hall in Paris, Alte Oper and Holzhausenschlößchen in Frankfurt am Main, Auditorium Manuel de Falla in Granada, Spain, Schlosskirche in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe and Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias in Funchal, Portugal, and as well as many other concert halls in Ukraine, Denmark, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania and South Korea. He also played piano concertos with the symphony orchestras of the cities of Kiev, Marseille and Granada.

In 2018 Alexander made his debut recording with works by M. Mussorgsky, C. Debussy and R. Schumann, which was released in March 2019 by ARS Produktion. In May the same year after winning the 61st Jaén Piano Competition he recorded his 2nd album on the label «Naxos».
